Web Tools: Streaming Video

In Uncategorized on May 26, 2009 at 5:02 pm

You Tube is great for alot of things but it seems people ignore the ease of being able to use streaming video to get their message out.  I have always promoted UStream.com but recently found out about LiveStream.com. They have a free version and a pro version. In the pro version you get no ads, an ability to have a wide screen media player and stream in HD quality.

So why stream online? For one we are a mobile and busy society.  Not everyone can get to your event. As I will lay out in future posts online video will increasingly get more and more mobile via the iPhone and other phones that play mobile video so the way people receive this video is going to change and grow at the same time .

The people who do go to your event are motivated to “be seen” or “network”.  The most common objection I get from those that don’t want to live stream an event is they think it will take away from the event somehow. For one the people that really want to be there will make it for the above stated reasons.  And two,  I think greater exposure and an ability to promote the event via internet channels after the event has occurred trumps these concerns. Most people will watch the event on their own time after it has occurred so it’s not like they are going to stay at home and watch it on their computer (or mobile phone) instead of coming to the event.

The uptick is those that don’t make the event get to connect on a visual level and see what they missed and maybe be more motivated to attend your next function.

In future posts I am going to touch on how to pull off doing a live stream for your event so now would be a good time to subscribe to my RSS feed so you can get all my posts.

Check out the live stream option for your next event. I think you will find you can put together something that will create buzz and get your message out there.
